    Weird baby snake.
Ok so I got my snake 4 days ago. I've noticed that she like to climb to the top of the tank and get close to the heat lamp or just climb around. Is it normal for a young snake to be so arboreal? Also do snakes seem to have a favorite hide and stay on one side? I've only seen her in her hot hide once. My hot hide is 89-90 with ambient between 78-80 and my cool hide is at 75 and the cool ambient air is at 82-83.

My first baby did that a LOT when she first moved into her tank. It was a pretty tall tank so I think she was just exploring, but I put her in a lower tank just in case the big tank stressed her out. But yes, my one girl loved to roam around up high. Other than that, your temps seem pretty good. It might just be the size of the hide that she prefers. They'll stay in the hide that theyre most comfortable in. Maybe try switching your cold hide to the warm side and vice versa!

    Hope that helps

Thank you that makes me feel better. But her hides are the exact same type.

I second the idea that she's just getting used to her new home. As long as your husbandry is spot on, she's just a little stressed from the change in scenery. I only see my BP on the hot side after they eat or if the room is a little too cool. With my ambient temp around 80, they generally stay on the cold side unless they've eaten.

How big is your tank? If the tank is too big, that could also be a reason why she' exploring and roaming.

I was told it was a 30 but it looks like a 20. It might be a little bog but I stuffed it full of things to make her comfortable.

I would try cluttering it more. Offer her some more hids and lots more clutter. If you think it's too much, add a little bit more!

I can try that. Also there is a small ledge like area between the top of the tank. She likes to crawl up there and she barely fits, so it makes impressions on her skin. Do I need to be worried?

The only thing I would worry about is her getting too close to a heat lamp if you have one there. Eventually she'll be too big and won't fit. Do you have a picture of your set up?

I see her get close to it sometimes. The first picture you can kinda see her. And the third points the ledge.

I'm not actually seeing any "hides" but that could be because they are behind plants. Do you have any hides that are snug with only one entrance/exit? Your tank is huge for a baby, but it's got a good amount of clutter. You can probably put a little bit more clutter and more snug hides.
