Please need some help with this
:please: I'm hoping things will go good, but not to sure. Just found out our herpstat hasn't been working properly for a bit and hasn't been keeping warm enough temps for some of my snakes. Mainly the one that is due to lay soon. Will this lower heat affect when she lays her eggs or even if they will survive if she does lay them?? I'm really upset at the moment and don't want to loose this clutch. TIA

We found out what the problem was, a wire had come loose :( So what do you guys/gals think though, will my female still lay her eggs soon and will they survive?? We are both very worried now as this will be our first clutch and our bp 3rd one. She was paired to a pewter and spider. Her pos was on Dec 4. Is there a bit of hope for all her eggs to be ok. The temp was alittle low for maybe a 5 - 6 days. It was ranging from 76 - 80.

It could, how low did the temps get and do you have any idea for how long?

It was only her heating strip that the wire came off, and her tub is in the middle. The temps were about 78 - 85 for about 4 days at the most. We just checked on her after we re-did her heat tape and she is now in a almost coil with her mid section on it's side and tail in the middle. With the heat where it should be does her being in this position mean she will lay soon? We do know she ovulated and have felt her eggs, we counted 7 - 8 of them.

You're good...I don't give females heat 24/7 until a pre-lay shed...I have even left several females in night drop (down to about 75 degrees) the whole time they were gravid and they laid perfect clutches...You need to worry more about high temps then cool temps.

Quick temp changes are a RI cause, slow shouldn't cause a problem.
We rescued a couple ball that were in an apartment that was vacant for almost a month with temps in the 50-60s and slowly brought them up to regular temps over a couple weeks with no problems.
