not eating questions?

We have 2 ball pythons that have really iffy eating habits. At first when we got the 1 ball python Abbadon he ate about every week. Then we got the 2nd Pie (for short) and she ate at first. Then they started not eating or barely eating. We did go through a round of snake mites but those seem to be gone now. Pie also has a tiny piece of shed still stuck to her chin. But these guys can go weeks without eating! Is this normal??? Should we be worried? We have corn snakes too and they never have a problem eating. Their only problem seems to be can they fit it in their greedy little mouths. We've tried live, dead, small, big, all different colored, store bought and home grown and still they just don't want to eat. (We didn't try pinks yet though cause those are just so small for their size.) Not worried so much about the bigger one cause he's not close to losing weight but worried about the smaller one cause she is younger and has less weight in which to lose. Are they all this picky? Or did we just happen to get 2 pain in the buns snakes??? If so why did the 1st one eat almost on a schedule and then stop? When we first got him he was a greedy little piggie just like the corns.

Try leaving them alone (no handling) and giving more clutter and hides to make them feel more secure. Try feeding right at dawn or dusk and don't try too often (maybe once every 5 days). Make sure the temps are correct and the hot spot is around 90 or 91.

We need a little more info to help you.

Can you describe your set up and husbandry? Enclosure, temperatures and humidity. And are both snakes housed separately?
How much do the snakes weigh and what size prey are you feeding? How often do you offer food? How long ago did you have mites? Mites can be stressful and the snakes went off feed from that stress possibly.

Ball Pythons tend to be finicky eaters anyway though. I have some garbage disposals that eat every time, but I also have one that will only eat every few weeks and another that will only take a specific size prey. Balls can go up to a year without eating as well without losing much weight. It just depends if the snake is naturally off feed or husbandry related. Snakes tend to loose weight rapidly if its a husbandry or other error.
