    Getting a yellow anaconda
So, I'm taking an 8 ft yellow Conda off of this lady for $200 with cage and all.

This will be my 1st huge snake, I am just wandering if anyone can give me any pointers on something here.

Obviously, she will not be handled when I'm by myself, but, if she was to strike and latch on, what's the best way to remove her without injuring either one of us (me even further)?

I don't really mind dealing with big snakes, I have dealt with some pretty big boas and they are really squirmy, but the size is not something that deters me from wanting to own her or any of my other boas either!

I may be getting this girl Monday. Will be making payments but the other person just does not want her due to size. So she's gonna let me get her with like 100 up front (only 200 total with huge 75 gal tank)!!! If this happens be expecting pictures!!!!

bigger tank will be needed, fyi. i built an 8ftx3x2 cage for my retic. and if they bite and latch on, it's one of those things you just wait until they let go...have you seen how many teeth an annie has? it'll hurt you worse and her worse if you try to pry her off. Use rubbing alcohol, mouth wash or even water to dump in their mouth to make them let go. keep in mind, this rarely happens as long as you read the body language, and don't mess with them when they tell you. good luck, I love the yellows!

    Nice!!
What is she eating at that size?

I'm ready for another giant snake but I have so many other cages to catch up on before then.

Yes I'm going to build a bigger PVC cage for her. Gonna put some sliding glass doors on it too. Bit for now she fits even in a 40 gallon. So when I get her and the 75 she's gonna have a good bit more room to last till I get the viv built!

I would not suggest alcohol or mouth wash to get a latched on snake off, especially if you are attempting to NOT harm the animal. I personally have no experience with anaconda's. From what ive read a large snake hook is in order. Expect an animal that will be agressive from the start. If that does not turn out to be the case that is wonderful but better safe then sorry. There are posts on this forum i have read about owners dealing with their animals. Maybe they can and will pitch in to help. If not i would suggest finding a breeder or someone like LLL reptile that sells the species and call them for tips/information, it will help both you and the animal. Definitely have 1 or 2 people handy should you get into trouble when doing anything with the snake. As i said this is all things i have read in other posts. Congrats on the new animal and Good luck!

I agree with the alcohol and mouth wash!! I also do plan on a snake hook, and I'm also going to meet her before I get her as I got lucky enough to find her locally! She told me she's actually a really sweet girl she just doesn't have any room for her there....I did get a picture of her though, here ya go!!

Well, finally, tomorrow is the day I get to bring her home. I just spent a coue hours rearranging things in my snake room, except the rack, and got it all ready. Tomorrow is more pix of her, imma handle her for a min or 2 when transferring her from bag to tank. Ill get the pix at that point, so be on the look out tomorrow night for them!!!!

^ Are you going to QT her in a separate room from your established snakes...?
