What are the signs?

What are the signs that you look for in a male or female that is ready to breed? I know what I have read, but I want to know from people who have seen these snakes in action.

The reason I ask is because my Calico is well over 1500 grams, probably a late '11, but I don't want to pair her if she's going to stop eating... I paired my normal and pinstripe female girls with Butters, and they stopped eating after having a perfect record :mad:. Butters' feeding response became more voracious! He shoots out of his tub (just like my calico).

Any tips? Suggestions? Insights?

Most will go off of food sooner or later even if you don't pair them up. It is just the way ball pythons are.

This I know =p. However, the pinstripe and normal both continuously ate until I paired them o_O. The first week I paired butters to the normal, and the normal went off feed (pinstripe still ate). Then I paired butters with the pinstripe, and then the pinstripe didn't want to eat. I don't really want the calico to do this since she's been going GREAT this whole time. It's quite obvious that pairing the normal and pin is what shut them down.

Then don't pair her. It is your call. I have just found that it doesn't matter if I pair up my bp's or not sooner or later they go off food either way. That is just my experience though.

My girls tend to be the opposite. When I start pairing them they seem to get hungrier. This is the time of the year that I hate feeding because the big females will shoot out of their tubs after me if I'm not quick enough with their rats.

if she's a late 2011 then she's not old enough to pair, regardless of her weight ;)

So do you think that these girls maybe aren't displaying good signs? I love feeding ravenous ball pythons :D. They put on a good show (I feed f/t :P). It also helps when another snake doesn't want their rat, and I can give it to another one. Butters is 1500 grams :O... He's one of my garbage disposals :P.

Thanks! I just verified, and she was born in October :gj:. She's going to be a big girl when she's ready :O......
