I am not extremely familiar with Boas (don't worry, i am not going to own one anytime soon & if i decide to, i will do my homework first) but I thought that BCC's were more apt to get to the 10 foot mark while BCI's stayed in the 7 foot range. Today, I was at Petco & they had a gorgeous BCC. The info sheet said that it would get to no larger than 8 feet. Am I wrong in believing that this was a highly inaccurate statement??

    quick basic question
totally incorrect. BCC is common boa constrictor meaning they get as large as your common boa constrictor - BCI is Boa Constrictor Imperator (I think that last part is right) these are a form of boa that don't get quite as long or girthy as your standard BCC but it is very hard to tell the difference between the two so you never really know how big it may get.

Oh and even with a BCI you're never for sure that you won't get over 8.

There are stories of 10 foot BCI's. Depends if they have been powerfed or not, in which case they wont live too long.

it isn't that hard to tell a bcc from a bci. if you study a picture of the two, the differences are pretty clear. i'd post some but i don't have any on hand and i'm headed out... anybody wanna post a pic of each?

A purchase of a different sort!
check out this baby! bci all the way... but it's fed on guinea pigs and rabbits, so that explains the size.

OK, so, if I check out the snake & it has the patterns of a BCC, should I tell the staff that they are askin for trouble claiming that the snake will only grow to be 8 feet???

GOOD LORD JEN! That friggin thing is HUGE!
