many questions brought a question to me.
So i have been seeing many feed questions on how much someone should feed their boa. All these questions have made me question myself now.

I have a dumerils boa about 180-200 grams. she was 180 2 weeks ago empty and hasnt pooped but it was feed day so she got a rat and wasnt able to get a good weight.

I am feeding her weened rats every 7 days. the weened rats are all around 40g. Should i move her to a 10 day feed or keep her on the 7 untill she hits small rats? i dont want her to get fat. so what are your opinions.

here is a pic of a 41g rat in her belly. it does leave a nice food lump and it stays for 48 days.

Im blanking right now on whether the general rule was 10 or 20% bodyweight (or a completely different number, my brain's gone right now), but just eyeballing it I'd say that looks a bi big for her, especially if the food lump remains for that long. I'd either drop her down a prey size, or go to a 10-day. Though she's young so I'd probably choose to keep her on a 7day and just feed slightly smaller meals, unless she seemed to get hungry very quickly.

She takes them down no peoblem. I dont even have to play with them. I just take her hide out and put it infront of her. They are gone in 5 minutes.

48 days? Or... For 8 days?

I would drop the size of the rat down and keep her at 7 days.
Something that gives her just a slight lump.

I keep my boa's on a 7 day schedule Until they are on small rats. Then I switch to a 10 day until they reach the size of medium rats. After that they go on a 14 days schedule. Just keep a good eye on how much fat she has on her. She should stayed shaped as a loaf of bread. As long as she keeps that shape you should be ok.
