not sure what this is?

Hey all, I noticed when Sheldon shed the other day these little red marks on his chin. They do not look bad up close (the angle of the camera and the lighting made them look much bigger and worse) but I am not sure if they are injuries from when he was shedding or something else. I cant see it being a burn. My tank is 77 on the cool end, 89 on the hotspot with an ambient of 83 degrees and it is regulated. He is eating fine but I just would like an opinion on what these are?

Maybe scale rot?

The pink/red above his lip are his heat sensing pits. Under his chin looks like it may be some injury or maybe a rub spot from shedding. Just watch it and make sure it doesn't get worse...

I have seen a thread somewhere, where someone else had this and it turned out it was from the snake rubbing. It had found a small gap or something, and was trying to get out.

Probably just from rubbing. You could put a little polysporin on it to help heal quicker. Also make sure his enclosure stays clean so it doesn't get infected. I'm sure he'll be fine :)

Silver sulfadiazine cream... It generally gets deep like that with bedding; however, paper can cause this but it stays shallow. For example, I have a het albino which I did not recognize until it was late, but they became deep holes. Went to vet, antibiotics were given, and they are healing. Her problem is she won't eat, and when I attempt to assist feed she pulls so hard she could break something if I hold on... I have a male pastel who just ot this but I put that cream on and he's doing well. Just waiting for him to shed. A male mojave has a very mild version as it just looks like rug burn lol. Anyways I put cream on that as well. So as you can see, I've had a little too much experience. Apply the silver sulfadiazine cream twice a day with a q-tip, watch it, and hopefully by shed you'll see significant improvement. O n my vet told me about the cream, not a homeopathic remedy

I think this might've been my girl. It happened to her not too long ago, the bin had a small gap above it which she stuck her head in, and she pulled some scales off when she pulled back. It was months ago and she is mostly healed now, just a bit of grayish scarring. We kept her on very clean paper towel and watched it closely to make sure it didn't get worse. After a couple sheds it looked much better!
