New project direction

Ok well I have been involved with reptiles for about 3 years now. I haven't found a reptile I didn't just love. (except for my sons iguana, our first reptile and last iguana.) I have been breedeing:
Corn Snakes
Bearded dragons
Ball pythons
Leopard geckos
Crested Geckos
Panther Chams
I also have been breeding my own rats, mice and roaches. Ok so any way I decided today that I am selling all my corns so I don't have to breed the mice any more. They are just stinky little things no matter how much you clean them. I just dont have enough time or room. And the ball morphs are more profitable and a lot less work. So any ways I am selling all my corns and have decided to focus on the Balls, Dragons and Panther Chams. I emailed Ralph Davis today and told him that I 'd like to get a pastel male BP, and if my breeding season goes as expected i will be getting a female as well. So I will be putting a deposit down for my pastel male. It's been really hard making this decision but I think financially it's a wise decision. Especially since It's just myself doing all the upkeep on the reptiles and feeders. Anyways I just felt like sharing my future plans.

Very cool, that must be quite exciting. And I don't blame you at all for wanting to be done with the mice. They are definitely stinky critters. I don't know how you do the roaches, though. I'd be completely creeped out.

Surprisingly the roaches arn't that bad, they are kind of fun to watch. They are kept in a glass tank with a screen top and bug guard around the top 2 inches of the tank. It makes it real slippery so the roaches can't climb the glass and get out of the tank, and they don't stink like mice.

I am planning on selling my corns at the end of this breeding season. I have kept them all the way thru Brumation, I may as well breed them this season before I sell them. I am accumulating a waiting list for those who might be interested. The problem with breeding the corns is their are soooo. many cool patterns and colors you cant breed just one.
I started with the
Snows, Albinos, then Snow stripe, ghost stripe then blood red, Motley Sunglow, Anerys, Motley Anerys, Creamsicles, Anery Zig zags, Aztec/Striped Albinos, Hurrican Anerys. And then I started producing Albino Blood reds, Bubble gum snows, motley Bubble gum snows, Pastels, ect.. So you need to keep your really cool hold backs to try and create new morphs...It got really crazy. not to mention the amount of space that many snakes take, cleaning time, feeding just all doubled. Some people may be happy with just one or two, but I am not able to do that. I jump in both feet, and get obsessed with projects.

I'm glad to hear they can't get out, but around here we have not just the red German cockroaches but also palmetto bugs which are giant flying roaches and a slippery substance certainly wouldn't trap them in the tank! I haven't really had a problem with them here, but I did at two previous houses where I lived and they will fly at you out of the blue. I hated that!

Flying roaches... thats yucky.

I think that that is cool! (Your breeding plans) and also it is a wise decision to sell the corns and get rid of the mice - life is too short to put up with lots of stinky mice (unless you like it a lot! :) )
