Need tech help on kindle fire

I bought my kids kindle fires for Xmas and trying to figure out how to get free game apps. Do I have to pay something up front to get started?

You should be able to go to apps store using WiFi and search for free games.

The problem is the kindle for runs an amazon version of android, so you don't actually get everything like you do on a normal android phone or tablet. You can however, flash the onboard ROM with a full version of android if you know how to do so.
