    Any Fire Skink tips?
My fire skink seems to be doing well and is well settled in my group. I have a planted 40 gallon cage for him, and he has quite the appetite. His name is Eragon. One thing I noted I did differently with substrate is that I did not put bark in with the ground, but I have noticed that many seem to do. I have been using a mixture of dirt like substrates for him to dig around and keep high humidity in.

He is underground all the time, and hates me with a passion for he isn't used to humans. I am working on taming him, but it is a work in progress.

Is there anything I should do to work on taming or improve his life? Is he underground all the time for a reason that is a sign of problems detrimental to his wellbeing? Anyone have any secret things that fire skinks love?

I just want to make sure he is happy :)

I'd say that he is probably rather content to be underground. Fire skinks are avid burrowers, and he probably feels very secure there. Just remember, he is probably wild-caught, and is not used to humans and all the ins and outs of captivity. Just give him time to settle in, and I'm sure that he'll come around.

Awesome, I just wanted to make sure, for I often see many articles and videos with the fire skinks just above ground, happy as a clam. While I glance over to my lizard who gives me a death stare then jumps and death rolls a chunk of meat from my hand :P

My arms are covered with small roundish bite marks. It looks like I branded myself, ha ha

Anyways, I'm glad I double checked and that the forum is here to allow me to do so with such nice people. Thanks.
