Couple questions about setting up my ballroom rack
1.) I have the herpstat 2 to go with my 4 drawer 41q ballroom rack that has 2 rows of 4'' heat tape. There are 2 cords to plug in, one for each row of tape. I plan on running a separate 8 drawer shoebox rack on my herpstat 2 as well. Can I combine both cords from the 41q rack into one through a power strip so that I can also run my 8 drawer shoebox from my herpstat 2, since the herpstat 2 only has 2 outlets?

2.) Heat probes - where do they need to go and where is the best place to enter them into the rack?

3.) Do I need to drill any air holes in the tubs?

I'm new to racks and really appreciate all the helpful answers that I'll be getting from a great community.

I have a ballroom rack. I fit the probe though the same hole at the bottom when the plug wires are. Placed the probe on the heat tape so the tub won't hit it.
I have not drilled any holes in the ballroom rack, other racks I have. If you do place hole in the tubs, do them on one end. That will give you the option of turning the tub around if you need more humidify.

You should be able to run both sets of heat tape on one plug and the other one for the next rack.
I guess this can leave you open to one strip of heat tape failing.

What do u mean by saying u placed the probe on the heat tape so the tub won't hit it? Shouldn't the probe be placed inside the rack above the heat tape?

Yes it's in the rack on top of the heat tape. On a spot where the tub won't hit it when you side it in and out.

Thanks for your response! Do you know how many watts are required for the 2 rows of heat tape? The herpstat supports up to 500w. I hope it isn't more than this. Where in Ky are you? I'm in nky.

    4" is 6w per foot.
    1 strip is about 5.5'

So in total it should be around 66 watts if I did the math right. Boaphile says he uses a low watt flexwatt. I emailed him asking him about it and never got an answer.

    I'm in Louisville.
