Man Called Pet Python 'Evil,' Stabbed it 19 Times: Police
Animal cruelty charge for Pompano man who stabbed pet python: BSO [Broward Sheriff's Office]
A Pompano Beach man is facing an animal cruelty charge after he stabbed a pet python 19 times after telling its owner the snake was evil, authorities said Wednesday.
Roy Strickland, 38, is charged with causing cruel death, pain and suffering to an animal in the incident that happened Tuesday afternoon, according to a Broward Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit.
According to the affidavit, a deputy responded to a home in the 400 block of Southwest 2nd Street and found the Ball python in a glass cage with the knife still stuck in it.
The snake's owner and two witnesses said Strickland "stated that the snake was evil" before he opened the top of the cage and stabbed it 19 times, the affidavit said.
An animal control worker was called to the scene and he euthanized the snake, which had been secured, confined and posed no threat, according to the affidavit.
Strickland appeared in bond court Wednesday where he was ordered held on $10,000 bond. It was unknown whether he has an attorney.

So sad. If it was my snake a doctor would be fishing that knife outta the guy's chest. I hope this guy goes to prison for a long time. Though no amount of justice can console that snake's owner I'm sure.
