Well people.....I sent Chris and my daughter to the pet store to get Monty a meal. They came back with the mice and a horror story of a baby phython that the store had sitting in the front window of thier store with the only heating it had was a heat rock, a big NO NO for ball pythons. Chris held it and said it was very cold and had burns on it's belly and was also told that it had not eaten in over a month. The store worker admitted to the fact that no one there new anything about ball pythons, or snakes for that matter. Chris did say that the corns they had there looked in good shape.

Well, to make a long story short........They are on thier way back as I type to rescue this young'n. I wont say purchace due to the fact that I am doing it to save it's life. I was not quite ready to add to my collection as of yet, but I wont let this poor thing die in those conditions. The owner decided to let it go for half what they were asking, so Im going to take the chance and see if I can get it back in shape.

I told Chris that once he rescue's the BP he is to tell the shop keeper there to NEVER have a BP in his shop until he learns how to take care of them properly. I no not have ink in my printer right now or I would have sent a care sheet with them to give to the store. But I will get one to the store ASAP. This is a new store and they had better learn how to take propper care of thier critters or this old fart will be stirring some doo doo.

I will get some quick pic's of the new one to post and then he will be quarantined and pretty much left alone until he recovers. Cant afford a vet bill right now and the nearest vet capable of taking care of it is over 2 hours away. So i will do what I can. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Guess I jumped the gun.....

Just got a phone call from my daughter. She said now the pet owner wants $40 more than what we agreed on earlier. I cant afford that so I wont be getting the new addition.

Now it's time to start flinging some doo doo. Maybe the animal authority would like to check up on them.....

Definitly go to the local animal rights authority with this...i'm sick of hearing about incompetent pet shops killing off these poor snakes.

Poor thing! I am glad you will be rescuing him and that the shop owner decided to take advantage of the opportunity y'all were giving him. If the burns aren't too bad, daily applications of neosporin (not the one with the lidocaine or other topical pain reliever), newspaper or paper towel substrate, and 2 or 3 sheds should get him healed. He may also shed more often trying to get rid of the burns, so don't be surprised if he does a couple of shed cycles right in a row. If he doesn't do that, it either means the burns aren't too bad or they're very bad.

Urgh ... I started that post when there were no replies yet but got called away to actually perform the job I am paid to do. How irritating. ;)

What a roller coaster ride......Pretend my second post never happend.

Im was sitting here waiting for the young'ns to get home and to tell me the story of what happend. Well, here walks in Chris with the BP. He went back to the pet shop and (as he put it) kissed her @$$.

So now Im open to help again. The BP has very dry skin. Decided to go ahead a give him a soak. He is a natural. He loves the warm water. Within minutes he was moving all over the place. He has some pretty long burns on his belly.

Will be posting a few pic's in a little bit.

I'm glad you saved it from certain doom. I think you should drop off the care sheet with them anyway, just to be sure this doesn't repeat itself.

How much did the shop end up going down to?

LMAO! Too funny! I didn't even know boys knew who Nancy Drew was! :P

Ironhead...I'm glad it worked out in the end, for the sake of the snake. :D Marla had some really good suggestions, and I'm sure Rusty may have some good advice to add if Marla missed anything. Good luck with it! I'll be watching for updates!
