Update on my first pairing

So, the update is that she's starting to lay on her side now and is in deeeep shed. So I should have me some eggs in 20-30 days!!!!

Sweet, good luck. If she lays in 30 days that would be the fastest turn around I have seen from first lock to eggs.

Well the lock was back in November, from the 10th, so that's gonna be like 2 months lol

Have you seen her ovulate? How do you know this is a pre-lay shed?


And about the fastest turn around comment, it's possible that she's already gravid and going to lay, but most people breed for 4-6 months before they see any eggs. They can look like they are about to lay when they are building or getting close to ovulation. Also, it looks like she's staying on the cool side to me?

Yeah she has been on the cool side a lot!!! I'm still confused as to what means what lol. She's been soaking for the past week, partially wrapping her bowl, then started laying partially on her side as of lastnight.

That sounds like building behaviour, not ovulation behaviour. They will still shed during building and such so it can be hard to tell when eggs will happen. The seeking cool side and bowl wrapping, at least in my experience means she's building. That's still good news tho!

Couldn't it be her pre ovy shed cycle?

I guess so, didn't even know they had that lol. But she has gone up another 7 grams in the past few days, still no food intake.
