    Humidity
So I've finally got my enclosures at the proper temps. The regulators that I purchased are quite finicky.
Maintaining a 90 degree hot side and about 78 degree cold side. Is this appropriate? I've read a few different answers.
Night time gets quite nippy, though. How low is TOO low for the temp to drop?

Anyway, onto the humidity topic. How do you measure this? Is having a certain humidity only necessary during their shed?
I have them in plastic tubs lined with paper towels currently. I do also have some aspen shavings, but haven't put them down yet.

Ideally there shouldn't be any temp drop. Your cage should have a 78-82 degree cool side and an 88-92 degree hot side 24/7. No part of the cage should ever get above 95 or below 75.

Humidity is measured with a hygrometer placed in the cage. I like mine located on the cool side of the cage. Humidity should be between 40%-60% normally and 60%-80% during shed. BP's come from a humid region and need to have proper humidity levels to remain healthy.

where could I buy a hygrometer? I'm assuming a pet store would charge insane prices considering their rat fuzzies are 5x more expensive than breeders

You are correct, pet store hygrometers are overpriced junk.

Here is a thread with info on hygrometers:

I would also always hold the hot spot stable and cool end should not ever be below 75 night drops are not needed but can be unavoidable I try to only allow the ambient to drop and then only as far as 77º from the typical 80º or so.
