Prolapse? What is this?

I have a male baby Russo who has a very hard time passing feces and urine. I was gently massaging three white poops out of him today when this ended up popping out as well. It was gel like and a little bloody.

It has since gone back in- does he need a trip to the vet?

So it actually hasn't gone all the way back in. His rear end is very floppy, like he cannot support it on his own.

Soak him in sugar water, that will help the swelling go down. What are you feeding, how often are you feeding, what are his temps and what's his history? Where'd he come from?

Feeding a mouse fuzzy every five-six days. He was extremely thin when I purchased him Ans the breeder said that he refused to eat f/t and was only offered live every three weeks or so.

He is in a ten gallon tank, cold side in the 70s, warm side 89 degrees. The tank is wrapped in black paper and the lid is wrapped in duct tape save for a small section for air flow.

Looks like a prolapse to me. Sugar water is right, will help the swelling go down. Don't push it back in manually.

Temps are low, might bump them. Maybe he's not digesting properly?

A prolapse is when something from inside the body, that should always be in the body, comes out of the body.

Even strait unwatered sugar will help too. The prolapse will go down with the sugar treatments.

The combination of him being extremely skinny when you got him, only eating every three weeks, and low temps is putting a huge strain on his digestive tract. Do the sugar treatments as suggested above, then let him be on his own for two to three weeks. After that, put him on a very relaxed feeding schedule. You probably just shocked his body to where it couldn't keep up

Why does sugar help?
