I'd just set it in there. If you're concerned with the probe moving, use some hot glue to glue it down. That won't injure the snake (however...that said, remove you snake before hot gluing and then wait for the glue to dry before putting your snake back) and it can be pulled off and repositioned if you need to do so later.

How does scrubbing the tank work if you glue the probe down? Just curious.
And I was wondering about the actual unit, how to secure it to the side of the enclosure. What would make it secure but still allow you to remove it for cleaning? It's just sitting on top of my substrate at the moment.
