First time setting up for a new baby, suggestions?

Hey! So I'm planning on getting my BP middle-end of January. Just ordered a bunch of stuff that should be coming in the mail over the next month.

What I have so far:

B.A.R.R.S (herpcages) 24x12x12 plastic enclosure. Since it was just a little bit more expensive than a tank/clamping top and I figured I'd just spend the extra money, since I heard all glass walls can cause stress? I also got the one with the back vent instead of mesh top since it gets very dry sometimes where I live.

Ultratherm heating pad and Zoomed 500r thermostat

Two medium ABS plastic hide boxes. I've also started collecting toilet paper/paper towel tubes (think those might work well as additional hides? I know the cage is a little bigger than some places suggest for a baby so I wanted to throw a bunch of stuff in it)

Van Ness crock water bowl

I haven't gotten a thermometer/hygrometer yet. Are there some that are better than others?

I was going to just use newsprint or paper towel as substrate

I already have some hemostats for feeding.

Is there anything else I need?

A lot of people use an accurite thermometer. Accurite is the brand usually found at Walmart. Temperature gun is also nice.
I would get a more accurate and reliable thermostat down the road.
You also need a cleaner and a disinfectant for well cleaning! Bleach is fine so is vinegar and stuff.
You need to buy food for the snake ;)

Thanks for the tips! I've got a bunch of vinegar lying around my house to clean the dishwasher with already, so that should be set. I was thinking about ordering a bunch of frozen rat pups from somewhere, but I wasn't sure whether I should wait to see how big he/she is. Think it's safe to assume order them before I get her? Would mice be a better way to go?

What type of thermostat would you suggest?

You should base the feeders you order on what the snake is currently eating. If you buy rats (which is the preferred and better choice to feed with) and the BP is a mouser, you're stuck with a bunch of f/t rats that it won't eat. Also, if you're buying your BP from a breeder, ask them if they know where you can buy your feeders locally. It really cuts down on costs. I bought 10 rats prekilled when I bought my first BP for $4 from the breeder but he lives an hour away from me. I now have a connection closer to home where I can pick up any size rat for $2 each and lower. It's really nice to have that option instead of the expensive pet store.
