    Ball python feels luke warm?
Just cleaned his cage yesterday and found him on top of his cool side hide, just picked him up and he feels luke warm, usually he is quite cool to the touch is it possible my thermometers are off?

My temps are 91 inside his hot side hide and 81 on the cool side.

IR gun says he is 84 and I am 83 (hands)

What are you using to measure the temps?

Every time I temp gun my snakes they are 84-86 degrees. If the snake is still measuring in that range then you're probably just perceiving the temp differently since it's winter.

x2. Cold and warmth are subjective. When you're cold, you think the 80 degree object is warm. When you're hot, you think the 80 degree object is cold.

Even though he was on the cool side, he may have just moved over there, hence still feeling warm. And ditto on temperature being relative. Since it's winter now, something will seem warmer than it would feel in the summer. Like, 78 degrees in my house during winter is nice and toasty and warm, yet in the summer 78 degrees is ugh, hot!

I use Accurite thermometers inside the cages, and whenever I've moved them around, tested them, etc. they always seem pretty accurate.

Whenever I pull mine off the hot side they always feel lukewarm. Its how they should be.
