    Nico won't eat.
    I'm at my wits end.
I know balls go off feed periodically. I know they are picky eaters. I know all these things. But it still worries me.

Nico, my 1.5 year old, hasn't eaten since 10/28, and then it was only 1 good sized adult mouse.

I moved him into my rack system about 2 weeks ago, thinking maybe better regulated temps and humidity would help. He's seemingly content. He hasn't lost any weight [he's not defecated since then either]. He still looks good body wise. He's not sick. For all intents and purposes, he's a healthy happy ball python.

But he won't eat. I put him in the feeder cage, and he explores it, sometimes coming nose to nose with the live mouse, and still does nothing. [I of course monitor for possible scuffles].

I just...don't know what to do. Should I worry, if he's not losing weight and still looks healthy? Or do I need to start being concerned?

Do you put him in a separate cage to feed? If so, try feeding in his enclosure. He may need a little more comfortable environment to feed. I have a het pied female that I have to leave a f/t rat in with her overnight for get to eat anymore. But if he isn't losing weight I would not panic.

Relax, it's only been a little over month and some can go many months or even up to a year without eating. Sometimes my balls just decide to go off feed for a little while for no apparent reason. Just part of owning BPs.

Calm down. My normal male stopped eating in August. Ate one adult mouse in October and has refused every week since. I've had him almost 3 years. He's always been like this. He has also been to the vet three or four times. They can't find a thing wrong with the little bugger and although skinnier than I'd like, he's healthy.

My Dumeril's is pulling a similar stunt. Didn't eat for a couple months, ate a rat pup two weeks ago out of the blue and is refusing again. Stubborn snakes. That's why I love my BCI and mojo, they eat reliably every week. ;)

If he isn't losing weight then there's nothing wrong with him. Don't stress yourself out and don't try to force him; it'll only stress him out more. Just relax and offer every once in a while.
