    question for larger bp breeders.
okay so i sold almost all of my bp collection to do some mew bp projects. Now for you Ball breeders who have been in the industry for awhile what would you do let me giv a scenario. #1 you take an orange dream and breed it to several 3 or 4 gene females. #2 you take lets say a trick, and breed it to only a few more expensive morphs like leopard, or something similar. Option 3, buy two higher end females like a HGW and a pastel leopard, and breed them to lower end morphs like bees, mojaves, etc. Im looking at this from an investment point of view as all of those options i like a lot. I figure they will all be similar in cost. So, for those of you who have been doing this awhile and know the market better than i do. what is best from an investment standpoint. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I may add a poll.

Ball pythons are a poor investment. By the time you raise any of those up, something else will be new and hot.

i feel that if you work off of a breaking even standpoint and not making money standpoint you can have fun. which is all i really want. Hell, with the few adult females i sold and the rest of my former bp collection i made a few hundred bucks from when i initially purchased them.

If it's about you having fun, then breed what makes you happy and font worry about what others would do.

i agree 100% but they all make me happy and if one is going to give me a better chance of at least breaking even somewhere down the road that option is then better than the others

I hear this discussion all the time and you can make money breeding ball pythons. I'm speaking from experience as I've supported myself for five years now.

Well, assuming you're not going back into your pocket, and are spending the profits you made from previous years then I see no reason why you can't make profits.

In Canada OD are going to be insane over the next few years, but I'm not sure what it's like in the USA. If it was me, I'd buy a male OD and pair it with a bunch of triple codom females. Even if you only hit 3 or 4 triple or even quote OD morphs you'd pay off your initial investment.

If you're looking to make a profit to build up a collection, the Trick is the way to go. Orange dream combos are great, but an OD male is only $2,500. Trick males are worth $14,000.
