    Ouch... this one hurt!
I've had my share of snake bites over the years, but this one was a doozie!

My fault, of course, since I reached in to grab Phoebe's (normal BP girl) water dish, going right over her head in the process - and as any experienced snake owner should know, they really HATE that. She's usually such a mellow gal, I guess it just didn't occur to me that she'd bite... but she did, and managed to hit a vein (causing bad bruising) in the process. It still hurts a bit after almost a week, but at least I've had fun "shocking" my co-workers with it. "Wanna see my snake bite? Check out the fang marks, mwahaha." :P

Anyway, I know you guys like bite pics, so thought I'd share it here! Has anyone else had a BP bite leave this much bruising & residual ouchiness?

Edit: Teeth, not fangs... before some smart-a corrects me, LOL. I know the difference, just think of them as fangs sometimes! ;)

Oh, you will eventually get bitten - I promise! Usually it's no big deal (with these smaller/non-venomous snakes), but this one did leave me kinda sore. Didn't help that I had the knee-jerk reaction of pulling back, while she was still grabbing on to me... I know that's the worst thing to do, your body just does it without thinking.

    Very nice bite. :)

I bruise very easily so with every snake bite i take i bruise pretty good.

I've never been bitten by a BP but i did take a bite to the face a couple months ago by a five and a half - six foot Yellow Anaconda which definitely wasn't fun. :taz:

Yikes... and that's one of the reasons I don't keep giants! I'm a single 36 year-old woman, and it's bad enough I have nearly 30 snakes living in my home - I don't think a scar across my face would help the matter.

I'm just glad my JCP (soon-to-be largest snake I keep) is as tame as a puppy dog. He has bitten me twice, but only when he was younger & both times due to stupid feeding errors. When he does reach full size, I think it'll be wise to invest in some long tongs!

Most people would define my Anaconda as nasty but i say she is just misunderstood. Thankfully that bite didn't leave a scar but i did have a decently sized bruise on my face for a couple weeks, i think i was more upset when she bit my arm and ruined a part of one of my tattoo's. :(

I have a soft spot for the big snakes, i am hoping to add a Burm to my group within the next few months.

Long tongs would definitely be a good idea, bites from snakes in feeding mode are the worst!
