    Question about tub setup
I just switched my adult ball to a 36 qt tub. Temps are perfect, humidity is perfect... I had her in a 40gal long (with 2 hides) and only 1 fits in the tub. I could put both in the tub but shed literally be crawling into her cold side tub as soon as she stuck her head out of the warm side one - there's just not enough room. Her hides are the perfect size for her. I'm sure ill be asked if they're too big for her but they fit her just perfectly she has little room to move around in there and it creates a nice snug fit. My question: do I need 2 hides in my tub? ive seen tubs with one and tubs woth two... i put black duct tape around the outside of 3 sides of it and her thick branch and fake leaves create a dark pocket in the cool side that I imagine she would feel secure. Please provide your EXPERIENCE if you have it. Thank you!!

    Re: Question about tub setup
Some people don't put any hides in because the back of the tub is naturally super dark. I put 1 hide in on the hot side just because my snakes were in tanks before I moved them into a rack a week ago. All ate readily. Maybe with this bump someone that's had their snakes in a rack longer then I can comment. :)

This tub is just a single tub not in a rack correct?

If this is the case YES you need two. In a rack it is debatable.

I used to keep them in tubs sitting on heat tape on shelves for several years with no hides.
It's all dependent on your snake, a shy snake may do better with a hide but most do fine with no hides.
I've never used two hides in any enclosure and never found a reason to do so.

Of my seven, all but one use the single warm side hide I provide. My cinny sits behind his haha.

I think hides are necessary, if they don't have one and want one then they will burrow in the substrate.

I used to use one hide on the warm side of my tubs but now I don't use any hides at all. The room stays moderately bright during the day but all are doing very well
