    Wireless USB adapter help please!
This is why I HATEHATEHATE wireless. I've used wired internet for the past three years, but recently I moved back into my parents' house and my dad strictly uses wireless. My desktop didn't have a wireless adapter, so I went out and bought a Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter. It promised the best connections for what I wanted, plus "10 minute easy installation".

It's driving me mad! It seemed easy at first. I installed the drives, then selected a network that I THOUGHT was ours, and it connected. But it only connected to the router, and it can't find the internet. Now, turns out it's not even the right one, yet it WON'T let me disconnect from it (it disconnects, then 2 seconds later automatically RECONNECTS itself TO THE SAME CONNECTION). I've tried connecting to other ones, but all it says is "VALIDATING SETTINGS", then nothing happens. I'm STILL connected to that other network. It's driving me up the wall!! Help please!!!!

It also said something about having to install a "hot fix" from Microsoft's website for the WP2 to work, but I have no idea if that affects connecting to the internet. Even if it did, I tried downloading it on my laptop so I could transfer it over to my desktop, but it says it's ALREADY on my laptop so the download is "unnecessary" and won't let me download it.

The hot fix is for the WPA2 security to work, apparently.

Nevermind, uninstalled and reinstalled the damn thing and just manually put in the wireless information.

    It worked.

Computers and technology are one of the things that can evoke the strongest rage/ frustration in me when I'm trying to do something and they aren't working.

    Glad you got it working.

Sadly, the UI's and manuals for most of these things are written by non-Native English speakers and a lot gets lost in the translation.
