reading my ball python?

So i just read another article about you can tell if your python wants held? What are the signs that it would like out to be handled?

I have one girl that "begs" to come out. When I go into the room she always comes from hide to the front of the tub.

Learning to read your snake is pretty much like reading any animal.

If you open up her cage and she tucks her head in, goes into her hide, maybe it's not the best time to get her out.

It's more about you learning your snake. Don't over do it and you'll be fine.

Exactly.. Balls are really easy for me to read.. I think they're one of the more predictable animals. But in any case, you could see a range of balling up, defensive strikes, quickly trying to get away from you. We have to remember even though they tolerate us, they really want nothing to do with people. If they don't want to messed with we just have to respect that fact. Most reptiles would be happy to not have any human interaction.

I had my pied crawl completely out of her tub into my lap once, I'd say she wanted to be held then ;). She will also start coming out of the tub when I open it, I think that's a sign she wants to get out. I'm not too sure about wanting to be held though :P, but she does seem to enjoy exploring. Usually its when shes at the front of the cage that she will do that.

I was actually wondering this today haha. I went to my girl's enclosure to handle her earlier, and when she noticed i was taking the lid off she came almost all the way out of her hide. When I lifted the lid off her enclosure she started lifting her head up and looking up at me. She seemed like she was saying she wanted to come out, it was cute. :)

No ball pythons yet, but I can tell when my rosy boas want out. For one, that's pretty much "always". One of the most active snakes I've ever seen, he's always exploring and trying to climb up out of his tank.

I have a few that will crawl up my arm when I open their tubs, and some that pull away when I open the tub. I doubt they "want" to be handled, but they tolerate it and act like it by crawling onto me sometimes.

My snake throws a fit, wrecks her tank and roams CONSTANTLY until I let her out.
