    Lookinf for first ball python
Hey, I'm looking to purchase my 1st snake, I convinced my parents to let me get a ball python for christmas. I really want a morph but most of them are at least $150. If anybody is willing to sell a BABY morph for around the $110 and below price range within the next month in a half to two months please let me now. I'd prefer a pastel or spider but I'd also take a dirt cheap normal baby

Don't buy it from a pet store! Most breeders will sell a normal for pretty cheap.

I see baby pastel males on kingsnake in the ~$75 range not infrequently. Keep in mind that there's also a shipping fee unless you can arrange local pickup :) My advice is to see if there's a reptile expo in your area anytime in the near future. You can often find something for a really reasonable price. Check and see if there are any specialty reptile shops around too. I agree with the above poster though - try and avoid pet store BPs.

I bought my ball python from a pet store and he is really healthy and have an active feeding pattern and shed cycles. I do trust this particular pet store rather then others so i could have just been lucky.

Yeah I'm definitely aware of getting a snake from a petstore is a bad idea. I've already thrown that option out of the door but thank you :D

Thanks for the suggestion, I've been searching around and the only expo I've found thats near me is all the way in march:omfg: I live a few miles outside of nashville so they don't come around very often, I'll continue searching and also take a look at kingsnake

I think it depends on the store in question. If it's a big pet store definitely keep a 10 foot pole between you and it, however there are smaller pet stores out there that don't deserve the bad rep they get. I got my ball python from this small specialized pet store that only sells fish, reptiles (including ball pythons that they themselves breed, although mine came from an expo and not their stock), and small rodents. Almost all the workers there have at least a few snakes of their own and they're incredibly knowledgeable and a very helpful resource for not just learning care but also for veterinary help as well (the vets around here aren't very knowledgeable about snakes, although there's a vet in another town for emergencies). Like I implied above, I realize not all pet stores are like this one, but if you can find a store like it in your area, getting a snake from them wouldn't be as bad of an idea. I mean, the biggest issues I've had with mine was he scraped scales off his head while in his container and it took us a few days to realize he's shy and won't eat if anyone's around. Otherwise he's perfectly healthy.

I apologize for the spiel, but opting out of all pet stores entirely might be cutting off a very good resource for a new snake owner, depending on if you can find a good one of course.

Try Craigslist. I got my snake from a breeder for $25.
