Can you tie up a live rat/mouse and feed?

I was wondering for people who have snakes that eat live only, could you tie the feeder up with the stitches that dissolve?

Not actually stitch the mouse/rat just use the thread to tie its hands, legs, and mouth

I've been feeding live for years and feel no need to knock rodents out, dislocate joints or break bones, tie them up, put a pillow to their face until just before they are unconscious, blindfold them, or perform any other unnecessarily weird to possibly cruel procedures so they cannot bite my snakes.

They are for the most part quite docile even when in with a snake.
Do what you prescribe and they will be panicked and possibly freak completely out and do the opposite of what you desire.
I've fed thousands of live rodents and not one injury beyond a minor bites that heal up in a shed or two.

I think that would be cruel, considering they are about to die...Why put them through that?

It's a rat for a snake...

Alright, just curious as I have seen some nasty nasty things on some live feedings gone wrong posted here, multiple scales ripped off...

I love my snakes more than any rat, personally would do anything to keep my snake safe.

That wouldn't even work.. Think about it.. A rat would chew through just about anything it was tied with in seconds. If there is a way out of a situation, a rat will find it.

Besides, like Jerry said, even if you could restrain a rat for any period of time by simply tying it down, it would panic so much that once it was caught it would be much more likely to bite.

Inhumane, and ridiculously silly idea.

If you breed your own rats, it's even safer to feed live if you socialize your rats. When I get my live feeders from a good source, the rats are calm, and often groom themselves in a corner till the snake strikes. I have a shy feeder, who will ball up if the rat is a bit too intrusive, and is all up in her face, which is what happens with scared nervous pet shop rats.
