    First Mail Order Python
On Friday I received my first blood python by mail. Unfortunately it was a whole day late so it was in that box for 40+ hours with a heat pack(thx FedEx). Upon arrival he was very lethargic and only flicked his tongue a couple times. I put him in his terrarium and heated it a couple hours later as directed by the company. After reading many care guides before ordering I know my husbandry is spot on. He slowly moved a few inches into his hide. And stayed there for 2 days until this morning when I moved him to the other side of his terrarium hoping he would find his bowl and have a drink. He didn't drink, but he did burrow in his cypress/coco husk and there he sits. I just wanna know if this is normal behavior for a mail order snake. Tomorrow is the last day for my 3 day satisfaction guarantee and I wanna make sure I have a good animal. Any input helps. THX

I don't know anything about Bloods. None of my many snakes that came in the mail acted like that. Was the heat pack still warm? Did it go through a cold state?

Why was it a day late?

Describe your setup and temps, bloods have different requirements than balls. For drinking, you probably won't catch him drinking. I can guarantee that he probably has though: most likely at night when you didn't see him (I've only caught a few of mine taking a drink, so don't be alarmed if you don't see them drinking. It's not like you can stare at the cage 24/7). As for burrowing and not moving, that sounds normal to me too. If they're roaming a lot I would be alarmed personally. Sounds like he's just settling in: you only got him 2 days ago.

Well the temps are about 78-88 and 65-75% humidity. Also I have a 78 degree regulated UTH under the cool side. I've also got a hide on each side and plenty to climb on and under. My setup is nearly perfect based on a half dozen care guides. The package went from southern Cali to Tennessee then to Dallas. It was a whole day late due to an 8 hour hold up in Memphis. I think anyway. I never got a response from my email to FedEx. It should have taken about 16 hours to get to me, instead it was more like 40.
