I was looking into getting a brazilian rainbow boa but I've read a bit about borneo short tails and they seem pretty sweet is there anything anyone can share about temperment and/or size? Or just general feelings about the species would be great!

They are aggressive my dear chap :) Other than that, I have no clue about their needs.

Hey JJ, This is where a CBB animal will make a big difference, if you purchase from a place like NERD you will get a very nice animal, that can be handled with a little patience. The shortails are becoming my favorite snake I love my Sumatran, and perhaps next year Id like a borneo as well , and than maybe a mate for one or the other. Look into Sumatran STP's as well they are very slick looking and still have that impressive body mass (plus the orange eyes are second to none). Kara has some short tails that she can place in her lapp and watch TV with , without them giving any problem. Plus if you use a reputable breeder and let em Know "this is my first" they will be sure to send you a well started snake that has had a fair share of handling. Go with Short Tails JJ, you wont be sorry.
As far as size gos obviously females get larger than males for Borneos males tend to top off at 4' females at 5'
Sumatran STPs are relatively the same size wise, maybe a little smaller.
This is a species where rubbermaid or sterilite is a god send as they love tight confined quarters when they are young. Check out this caresheet/article http://www.proexotics.com/blood_article.html

and than ask Kara to e-mail you her paper entitled "bloodrant". Youll be well on your way! :P
