What the hell is he doing? (Shedding)

Okay, so this is my first ball, and this week it looked like it was going to be his first shed in my care. He's two months old, eating mice, in a ten gallon tank on paper towels, has two hides, basking temp at 90, humidity at 60.

Yesterday he was in "blue" his eyes where milky, he was dull, all that, but today, I took him out to check on him and feed him (he didn't take his meal, but I'm assuming its because he's in shed. He's usually a great eater and this is the first time he's refused food), and would you know it, he looks normal. His belly is still pink, but he's not dull and his eyes are back to normal. What the what just happened? There is no shed in his tanks so....what did he do?

I gave him a 15 minute soak in luke-warm water and now he's just back in his tank. So....any idea what happened? Is this normal? Should I get him check out?

After the "blue" stage, they go "clear" for a few days until they actually shed. Very normal!

This is completely normal. All of mine do this too. He will probably shed the skin in 2-4 days.

Some shed the day after turning clear. Others don't shed for up to a week. Patience young jedi. . . .

Plus, it's best not to soak them when they are in shed. Instead, beef up the humidity to around 70%. You should really only soak them after they if it was a bad shed and you are helping them finish and getting pieces off.

Shedding is a process. How long it takes each snake can vary. Typically they will get a pink belly, then a few days later turn blue, stay blue and "milky eyed" for a day or two, then clear up, then within the next few days, shed.

Soaking them is not recommended at this stage of the game. That is reserved for stuck shed, as soaking can rob them of essential oils needed for a proper shed. Next time you notice pink belly, just bump your humidity to 70% until shed cycle is complete.

I would leave your guy alone until he sheds, as the soak probably stressed him out too.

Like the others have said, completely normal! My spider is the same way. When she goes "clear" she looks like she's done shedding. She's bright and looks like she's already shed but there's no shed in the tub. I can't tell you how many times I kept digging under the newspaper and in her hides to look for a shed that was never there. My normal, on the other hand, stays pretty dull until she actually sheds.

Oh geeze, I didn't know I wasn't supposed to soak him. Well, I'll just let him be then and bump up his humidity.

It's ok even if he has a bad shed. There are plenty of techniques on here for you to use ot help him get it off or, if it's not bad, it will come off the next time.
