locks = no eggs - how often this happens ?
Just curious - how often you don't get eggs from a female that locked multiple times?
I'm just curious if it happens often or it's rather not common that females thal lock many times do not lay eggs.
How did this work for you ?

    Don
It happens. I'd say around ten to fifteen percent of mine each year have several locks but no eggs.

Happens more with me with younger females than with older females. My oldest girl has laid eggs for 5 years in a row but she wasn't bred until she was 4.

I'd agree with the above statement. My oldest females never fail for me, but have had young females through the years just not develop or drop.

Ok, thanks for replies :). I was just curious how often does this happen.
I'm pairing 3 females this year and all lock very well, so let's see if all lay or not :).

Also when you say 10-15% - out of how many animals?

It also depends on the animals. Younger females may not go, some females want 1-2 years between laying before they go again, did anything stressful happen during the year....

I just had a spider lay that I was not expecting at all. I had a bunch of locks on her and stopped. I never saw ovulation etc. Over thanksgiving break right before i left I noticed she looked funny. I scheduled a vet appt for tuesday. I came back to check on everything on monday and there were six nice eggs laying under her. I wasnt ready for it but I handled that part. I thought my year was long and over with and I was prepping and cooling for this year. This was def a surprise. I posted a couple threads about it and I read that even though there are multiple lock ups and everything looks to go as planned a female can retain sperm and can hold it for a while then when she is ready she will produce. Its crazy. Its a first for me. To say the least I was a happy camper. Only problem is a I have to wait 50-60 days to find out who sired them lol. Anticipation is gonna kill me!!! :confusd:
