How big is too big for males???
I have a male pied who is a proven breeder (not w me) that I acquired through a trade. When I got him he was huge looked female. Bigger than any female I have. He was over 2000 grams. Well I have since put him on a diet of 1 small rats every other week. He is slimming down at around 1650 grams as of today, but he still has no intrest in breeding. I know huge males get lazy and arent prolific breeders or so I have heard.

I have tried to put other male sheds w him and female sheds. Used sperm plugs rubbed from another male rubbed on his female NOTHING NO INTREST AT ALL!!!! Worst part is wants it. She wags her tail like crazy when he is introduced. Ive put him in her tub and her in his tub. Still nothing.

Paired them and misted like crazy still nope, paired when storms were comin through. Nothing

Any other tricks, tips, hints would be very much appreciated

Looks like you have tried all the tricks. Try pairing the day after a meal. How often are you opening the tub to check for a lock?

I usually feed saturday and pair sunday. You think i ahould pair right after feeding??? Also i open tubs once at night and once in morning. As close to 12 hrs apart as possible. Ive tried just shining a flashlight through the tub as to not open or disturb them and still nothing. All other boys are doing what they should be.

I would try putting a sheet over the rack.
It helps keep them from stressing.

One trick that supposedly works is taking them out for a drive :gj:. Susan over at UK Exotics says that will sometimes do the trick. A 10-15 minute drive in a box. Not sure why, but that's just something that might work. Might just be a myth though. Still, I wonder if that would help ya :gj:. Fill me in on your results :D.

I have a 2300g male pinstripe that I got as a proven breeder is locking every so often.
Most of my big males are between 850g and 1300g.

I would say his weight may be okay depending on how long he is. I have a big pied male that is 2300g my female pied is also about the same, but they are both pretty long, so he is not overweight or anything. He is a very strong breeder though and as such he goes off food in September and I'm guessing wont go back on for another couple months. I figure this weight keeps me from having to worry as much about how long he is off food and do not have to monitor him as much as a 700g breeder that chooses to go of feed.

As for him not locking up yet, as others have said, its still early. I know patience is easier said than done as I have a few that are being stubborn myself.
