pleasant surprise
early last year I bought a male pinstripe het albino. last season when he got past 550 grams, I put him in with my het albino female. I was very disappointed when no eggs came of it, never saw a lock but was hoping he was just shy. This season I put him in my proven het albino female, still not seeing a lock, I put in my
albino male after cleaning yesterday, hoping a little competition would get him going. Well, yesterday afternoon I saw the albino male locked up with the male pinstripe het albino for most of the later part of the day. I didn't really think anything of it since that can happen, a dominance thing. Today I probed "him" and found out he is in fact a she.
I never checked, since I've never heard of a breeder mistakenly selling a female as a male, the other way around, all the time, it never occurred to me to check.
I'm hoping for at least one albino pinstripe to come of this, wish me luck.

My thoughts would be this. If the breeder made a sex mistake, perhaps you should question the het factor as well. Good luck though. BTW how large is the pin?

A gender mistake is very easy to make, although a breeder should always triple check before selling an animal. That isn't the same as lying about the genetics of the animals you sell, or not keeping proper records of pairings.
