    Job searching
So, I turned 14 last Monday, & I got an application for a work permit today from school, & now I'm job searching. Do you guys know of any places that hire at age 14 w/ work permits?

Yikes, your options are probably going to be very limited at that age. Might try some local businesses. I doubt many chain stores/restaurants hire kids your age. I would keep an eye out on CL and your local paper for ads. Snow is coming, so chances are you can score some snow removal jobs in the near future.

I think some grocery store chains will hire that young. Otherwise, I agree with the suggestion to find smaller business that might not have corporate CYA policies.

Ooh, good call. Grocers often hire younger kids for bag boys and such. :gj:

Thanks for the quick input, I have a friend who worked at Baskin Robbins at 14, so I think I'll head down there tomorrow after school. Any more suggestions are welcome. :D

I know in my state some of the grocery stores definitely will hire at 14. I have a 13-year-old who's already plotting his financial independence :D

    And good for you!

I live in Canada, so it might be different. Doesn't McDonald's hire at 14?

I got my first job when i was 14 and I pumped gas. It was the only place in town that did that. I know that a few grocery stores here will hire at that age and also had a job washing cars and doing detail work at a local used car lot on the days I had off from my first job. I would try seeing if a used car lot could use someone like that too.

Find a small local business and they may just be willing to pay you under the table since youre still underage. I know a few 15y/o friends who did that. Im pretty sure 14 is too young to work in CT tho unless its under the table. I know you have to be 16 to work at my facility. Its a nursing and rehab center though.

EDIT: lol im not really sure if that^ violates the TOS here... If getting paid under the table is considered "illegal activities" then disregard all my advice J.
