Argue all you will about a snake's ability to hear - our own ability is subject to question. Topic of this trivial thread - lyrics you thought said something completely different .

No Bob Dylan or Tom Petty plz :P

"I need equal rice, and justice"

    ~Peter Tosh

I was young and naive - had to've been about 1978 or 79. I cherished my rice ever after :P

Probably entirely unfamiliar to most visitors here, but ...
"Gettin' cards and lettuce from people I don't even know / waffles comin' over the phone ..."
    Glen Campbell, "Rhinestone Cowboy"

    I was about 4, so I have a pretty good excuse. ;)

in the radiohead album OK Computer - I don't remember what track he says "silent" I heard "salad"
also the ever famous hendrix -"'scuse me while I kiss this guy" instead of "kiss the sky" (purple haze)

Don't forget Manfred Mann's "Blinded By the Light" in which it sounds to me to this day like he's saying "wrapped up like a douche another rumor in the night" instead of "revved up like a deuce another runner in the night." :)

For the longest time in Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" i thought he said "Trouble in the sewers" instead of "Trouble in the Suez". And i still dont know anyone who can sing all of REM's "Its the end of the world as we know it (and i feel fine)" without looking at the lyrics.

    Lookin for some clarification
REM shouldn't count any more than Bob Dylan should. They'd released a few albums already before Michael learned to enunciate. :)

Awww, he left me a present!
A band I am familiar with, Malice Mizer, has a song in which he sings "Beast of blood" but it sounds like "bean sprout."

then theres another part where it sounds like he says "I'm looking for my ruffleuff, I'll kill you if you ever eat the spider." It is hysterical.

LOL!! Add me to "We Didn't Start The Fire" - I originally (way back when in the 6th grade) mistook the line rock and roller cola wars for rock and roll and color wars...my mom heard me singing it one day and said, "what's a color war, honey?" And I was like, "I dunno, I guess all those heavy metal guys are racist or something." DOH!!!!!

In the same vein, there is an entire website dedicated to the mystery of the misheard song lyric:

    Great thread Smulkin!!!

lol, we make fun of this guy all the time for this one song he sang totally wrong... it's an old rap song, Money Ain't a Thang by Jermaine Dupree, and the dude kept saying money in the bank. classic.
