    Light Dimmers
I'm going to be getting my first ball python soon, and since I'm going to be using a UTH I'm going to use a light dimmer as a rheostat. Due to this being my first BP, I don't have any experience with said light dimmers; how does this one look? http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...ct_description

I've used the same model for a 75watt heat lamp and it worked just fine. It should work for a UTH. Plug it in and monitor your temps closely before you get your snake. It will need to be adjusted almost daily due to ambient temp changes. Just watch it closely.

It should work pretty well. I have a similar one for a lamp and it works fine. However, I'm always having to adjust it to keep proper temps. The only problem I see is that if the dimmer or UTH fails, there's not shut off. With a thermostat, if it gets too hot, I'll shut off. You might consider investing in a thermostat instead of a dimmer in the near future.

Thermostat is priority number one on my Soon-To-Buy list. Looking at a Vivarium Electronics one, they seem to be a pretty reputable company.

Oh lordy! I apologize for my typos. I speak English, I swear!

Vivarium Electronics is a good one! I'm getting a Herpstat in January when I order my new rack.

Haha, I didn't even notice, I swear! Congrats on the rack, Once I expand the BP collection I'll hopefully be getting one.

Some people have mixed reviews on this product, but it was recommended to me on this forum and I bought it. It works just fine for regulating my UTH. And you probably wont find one for a better price.

For 10 bucks more than the dimmer, I think I'm going to go for that, big thanks for the link.

I use the white ones on a surge protector. Mine keep going bad. Unless my new apt has bad wiring. I would get a extra just to be safe.
