    Hate working on thanksgiving
I started doing my newspaper job at 1am and got done at 830am. I had around 520 newspapers in my van. Each paper weighted about 3.75 lbs. That's around 1900 lbs of papers.

It could be worse. I was up at 0600 this morning to help the cooks in the DFAC, then at 1100 I went out for a quick patrol, and after that I was back in the DFAC helping cook. I sliced and served one of the giant cow thighs, or steamships, that we cooked for 20 hours (thing must have been 50 pounds) and then helped clean up. After that, since it was my turn for TOC duty, I cleaned the TOC and took out the trash. It is now 0930 and I am finally sitting down, done for the day. The bright side is that I am right at two weeks away from being home. Best part about today? We rolled up two taliban that made an attempt at a weak ass ambush and they are now in custody and will be processed through the Afghan court system. Happy freaking Thanksgiving, huh?

Doesn't suck too bad, I'm almost home! To be honest, as I was eating I was thinking that I wouldn't rather be home at that moment, as I was with some great people, both U.S. and Afghan Army. This is the first time out of my three total deployments where part of me is sad to be leaving. The Afghan soldiers that I have worked with are the most professional soldiers that I have ever seen in this country and they all truly care about making their coutnry a better and more secure place. They are among the true heroes of this conflict, and when we roll out together they don't have the body armor, the night vision, the high speed weapons or the up armored vehicles that we do. I will be forever thankful for the opportunity to come over here and meet these men and will remember many of them for the rest of my life! Sorry if it seemed like I was whining or making things out to be harder than they are over here. But hey, at least your wife was with you at work, so that had to be nice, right? Happy Turkey Day, man.

Also, I'm not sure how many loads like that she can take (the van, of course)! LOL You might want to get your suspension checked out.
