So, I have never actually been through a start to finish shed & I am a little confused. On friday when I picked up the little lady, she had the cloudy blue eyes going on. So, I have been doing my best to keep the humidity up, blah blah blah. Over the last couple of days, not only have her eyes cleared up but her skin does not look pale like skin that is going to shed usually does. Am I missing something? Is there a waiting period between the cloudy eyes & the actual start of the shed???

yeah, its a few days in my experience. I noticed that the eyes cloud up, get better for a day or two, and then they shed. Nothing to worry about!

eddie, mine just went through a shed. it was a perfect shed. his eyes cleared up and it was a couple days until he shed. just keep ypur humidity up. you only need to soak him if hes having problems shedding.

Good queston TG! I'm interested to know as well... My theory is that the eyes cloud because the skin has officially begun to die and the eyes clear up because the dead skin slightly seperates from the eye... I have no idea though these pros should have an idea.

The 2004 annual from Reptiles Magazine had a great article on shedding which describes exactly what's going on in your snakes physiology before, during, and after a shed.

Check it out. It's still available in pet stores.
