    Thoughts on wild feeders?
This evening a friend was telling me that he has had mice in his chicken feed container lately. He brought it up because I also have chickens and he wanted to know how/if I keep the mice out of their food. I was more interested in finding out if he could trap the mice :)

He said he doesn't know how they get in, but they can't get out, he has to remove them. Is there any harm in feeding my snake wild caught mice?

The problem is wild mice are more likely to carry parasites and other diseases that could harm your snake. It is not a good idea.

    Yes.

You dont know if the mice have parasites/etc or what it could have previously gotten into.

What if it had gotten into poison?

    Well that settles that.
I hope these particular mice aren't parasitic or full of poison!

Just kidding. I will have him abort the mission. Thanks!

Uh, yeah. You have NO IDEA where these mice have been, what they have been eating, or what they are carrying. Not something I would ever do. We have chickens, and all the wild rats they attract get to meet our t-Rex traps...
