    Hypo Genetics Q?
I have a 2012 ghost female. I am wanting to go into a ghost project with her but Im uncertain what male to use. I like the orange ghosts but its to my understanding she would have to be het orange ghost for them to produce orange ghosts. So this is my thinking and I need opinions so please chime in.....I am thinking of using a dom or codom male het to ghost so that the clutch would produce the dom or codom gene babies as well as ghost babies and some normals. Am I correct? If not please correct me. Im still learning :)

    yup.

He would either have to be heterogeneous for hypo, specifically the line of Ghost your female is. Or, have the hypo gene as a visible mutation in the morph.

If you were to breed your Orange Ghost female to a lesser het. orange ghost you would potentially get the following.

    Lesser Ghosts
    Lessers
    Lesser het. Ghosts
    Ghosts
    Normals
    Normal het. ghosts

If shes "plain old ghost" then most likely she IS an orange ghost.

She looks like an orange ghost (Hypo) to me. If you bred her to a co dom/incomplete dom male het hypo all would be 100% het hypos, you could get normals, hypos, whatever codom you use, and said codom hypos. If you bred her to another visual recessive gene you would get all normals double het for those 2 genes.

I agree with this right here and want to reemphasize the importance of making sure that the male you plan on using is from a compatible hypo line. Breeding two incompatible hypo lines WILL NOT produce visual offspring, so double check with the breeder to make sure the animal you are interested in is compatible. There are threads on this site that list most of the hypo lines and whether they're compatible, but here's the link for one of them. It should be a good starting point. Feel free to ask me or anyone else questions since it can be a bit confusing to start with.

One thing I did want to mention is that people are having issues with the Citrus Ghost line from Gulf Coast being compatible with orange ghost lines, so I would avoid working with that line just to be safe.

Also, that is a fine looking hypo girl! :D

I would guess that she's a ghost from an orange ghost line. :)
