    Congrats on the BP!

Are you feeding rat or mice fuzzies? If mice those are way too tiny, I'd bump him up to at least mouse weanlings/adults or comparably sized rats.

Does your heat mat have a thermostat regulating it?

    Check out this thread: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...t-Thermometers

To pick up a BP you need to be slow and careful. Try to support as much of the snake as possible and try to keep movements slow and direct.

    ThermoSTAT
    or
    ThermoMETER?

Thermostats use a temperature probe to regulate a heat source, while thermometers only measure temperature. Both are necessary

What are your current cage temperatures and what specific devices are you using to measure/regulate temperatures with?

How cold is the room that the cage is in?

thermostat and the room is 75 temp on the hot side is 85 cool side 75 humidity is 55 he has 2 hides and large water bowl and some plastic plants to hide in also a stick from africa to climb and help with shedding.

85 is too cold for the hot side temperature. You need to have a hot side of 88-92 degrees and a cool side of 78-82 degrees. No part of the cage should ever get above 95 or below 75 degrees.
