For once, the cops are coming to the rescue of the snakes! Not a story you hear very often....

Yay for the police, and BOO to Smokey Mountain Amusements for allowing live animals to be given away as a prize at a fair. For some reason i dont think a 21 foot, 350 pound Burmese ( or any Burm for that matter ) would make a good prize for anything.

Disgusting the way that some people treat animals! Hooray for the police for a change!

Hey, i was gettin a little bit of heat for fawning over Hissy today from some family members. I was tellin them that i mist with spring water because my faucet water is so friggin hard. They were like "OMG, it's a snake! Are you serious!?" Much to my surprise, a friend of the family stood up & took my side! She said, "We may not have those kinds of feelings because we can't imagine looking at a snake in such an adoring light but all he is doing is looking at his snake the way that we would look at our more conventional animals. We love our cats & dogs don't we?" I was so impressed & happy! :)

Wow, for once, something positive regarding police, snakes, and moronic keepers. :)
I can't imagine that they were giving away burms as prizes for games!? Some people can be such idiots.

That's great that they were willing to take action, and a big thanks to whatever animal lover tipped them off to the poor conditions in which these animals were kept. I hope this guy's name goes up on the BOI as someone not to sell to.

Forgive my ignorance Marla, but what is the BOI?

It's the Board of Inquiry at www.faunaclassifieds.com. Basically it's a public place to praise people who have served you well when buying or selling reptiles, feeders, or supplies, or to complain about poor service or dead animals when the seller won't make it right. If you haven't seen it, I can definitely recommend its use any time you are considering buying an animal, but you do have to balance people's comments with the fact that they're not all entirely objective. It's something to consider, but not necessarily make all your decisions by.

You're welcome! I always check the BOI before buying from someone I don't know.
