    Kinda freaking out. Please help
**Quick back story**I rescued a large female bp. refuses to eat anything but live. Ive tried doing everything to switch her to f/t but it doesn't work.

So today is feeding day and i put a rat in with her. she struck and got it. I guess she thought it was dead but wasn't. it started biting her and she was thrashing around trying to get it off her. I tried getting at the rat and pulling it out but the snake was thrashing around too much for me to get it. She wound up getting it and eating it. but she has some bites all over. they aren't too deep cuz she isn't bleeding much but there are lumps where she got bit. I've tried to get her to clean her off but she isn't having it. I was able to move her to a sterilized cage but that is it. she wont let me touch her.

I've never had to deal with this because the rest of my snakes eat f/t. I always watch to make sure she doesnt get hurt but even tho i was there I couldn't do anything Please help. I am going to try to let her calm down and get some pics.

Is it normal to have lumps where they were bit??

Swelling will be present, just keep her in a clean cage. Let her calm down and check her later. She's rattled right now. I don't have any first hand experience with this, but let us know how she does.

Wow she did get bit up! I'm guessing the lumps are from fluid build up. Just keep a close eye on her and make sure she doesn't get an infection. Take her out of the cage and get it all cleaned up and then put her back in. If she looks like she could be getting an infection get some neo without painkillers to put on the open wounds. Most of my bites have healed just fine without ointment, I have just kept the cage clean.

Yeah I've moved her into a whole different tub so I can keep a closer eye on her. I'm guessing this isn't the first time she has tried to eat one that wasn't quite dead yet cuz she has scars all over. Poor girl
