Birthing tub size plus air flow?
I've been looking into making a birthing rack. Was going to go with some sterlites but have been seeing people use litter pans a lot. Then I realised I could order these by the case threw work.
Large -(18.5"Lx15.3"Wx5.3"H)
Jumbo-(22.3"Lx16.8"Wx6.8"H)
Two that I've been looking at dilema is shed is small. I can fit 15 large with airflow space of 2.5inches (bottom of tub to next cross beam). I'm not sure if that is enough or if that tub size is good? Let me know what ya'll think. The more tubs I can fit the better but healthy ratties my biggest concern. These will just be birthing racks have a seperate breeding rack. Thanks all appreciate any feed back.

Plenty big enough if for 1 female, I like to keep 3/4 females to 1 male in a breeding tub, and when I see babies, I will take the female that is on the babies most and take up to 15 babies for that individual mother and place them in a birthing tub (well bringing up tub) that way the bringing up tubs arent always full of just single does with no babies.
The females appear to be happier on their own than with others running about, especially without the male present (in most cases),

Re: Birthing tub size plus air flow?
thats pretty much how our birthing ones are ;) we use washing up bowls, perfect size for 1 female and can find them absolutely anywhere.
Its worth to mention though that they cant stay in the washing up bowl all the way until the rats wean
