Assist feeding finally ends. Hooray! Switched to F/T as an added bonus.
Well, some of you may have seen posts where I commented about assist feeding hatchlings from my daughters first ever clutch. Of the six babies that hatched August 28th, two would not eat on their own. We started them all with live rat fuzzies and those that ate, did it like champs from day one. But we had two that just wouldn't get going. We had to assist feed them 7 times each.

Last feeding day before this one, we tried switching over to F/T rat fuzzies. All those that were already eating on their own, save one, made the jump. Since we had to P/K the live ones to assist feed anyways, we figured it wouldn't make any difference if it were P/K or F/T as long as the temperature of the prey item was correct. This weekend we tried again and all of them ate F/T on their own with no hesitation. The two that had required assist feeding previously, acted as if they had always been doing it. Don't know the reason for the sudden change, but we're certainly welcoming it. For those who are new to assist feeding and going through it now, or in the future, just don't give up cause there is light at the end of the tunnel.
