Advice for a friend of mine.
Ok well a good buddy of mine has a California King that escaped his tank(he found him luckily) but part of the agreement with his Dad is that it wasn't suppose to escape or he would have to get rid of it.Now his dad is holding on to his promise and making him get rid of it.He told me that he was just gonna let it go in the forest somewhere but I told him not since it's winter and the snake is not a native species. So now he needs to figure out what to do with it.Any advice for him? I told him to try craigslist but apparantly all he gets is spam emails from bots.

Try here, kingsnake, fauna, local reptile shop will maybe take it off his hands. But do not let him just release it, that is the worst idea!

The petco by me takes in snakes and other pets people can't care for any more, not sure if any pet stores by you do that. Not the greatest choice but better then the woods. Or any local herp groups maybe??

You should never consider letting a captive species loose whether it is native or not.
Well, my first thought was "where did he get the snake in the first place?" Could he bring it back there? If that's not possible trying bringing it to a pet store or just ask around if anyone wants a free snake. If he was willing to let it go then he should be willing to give it away for free.

Can you take it? Ask friends, family etc. Try a local herp society. Whatever you do, do not let him release it. Thats the worst idea ever.
