New ball python dislodged the thermostat sensor

I have a thermostat for his heat pad, he dislodged the sensor (need to tape it down), He's only been home for a couple days now, would it be ok to fix it, or would it stress him out?

He's currently roaming around and exploring the decorations flicking his tongue, likes to poke at the lid

I'm no expert by far but if it was me and he was roaming around checking out everything else I'd fix it quickly. But I'm the impatient type and once I see a problem I must fix it ASAP before my ADD shifts to something else.

Don't use tape inside an enclosure (it's dangerous for your BP), instead you can use aquarium silicone or hot glue to secure the sensor to the enclosure. I'd recommend hot glue because you can apply it and it cools/bonds quickly so you can take your BP out, secure the sensor/let it cool, and have your ball python back in its enclosure in the least amount of time. Silicone takes 24+ hours to cure so that's probably not your best option since you seem to only have 1 enclosure.

Fixed it, good thing too, his hide went up to 96.5, down to 86 now, cool side is at 78, hot side 82 (I need to get a second heat lamp)

What did you use to fix it?

82 is way too cold for the hot side, it needs to be between 88-92 degrees.

What are you using to measure temperatures?

Never use tape inside a snakes cage. Honestly I would suggest that you move the probe outside of the cage and attach it directly to the UTH to prevent anything like this from happening again.

Yup, thermostat probe should be on the exterior of the enclosure, and attached to the uth. This way you never have to worry about your snake knocking it loose. Also, never put tape inside your enclosure!

Ah I didn't use tape, the hide is holding it in place until I got hot glue, I'll put it on the UTH and keep the digital thermostat inside the hide, I have the ones from coral life they have a suction cup and that hasn't moved.
