So i have been pretty successful in keeping the temps & humidity at steady levels in my tank lately. The thing that is just wild to me is that the temps & humidity are SO different on both sides of a 20 gallon TALL. On the warm side, thanks to the power of a damp dish towel with a dry larger towel on top of it, the humidity has stayed in the 47-53% range & the temp in the 91-93F range. On the cool side, without the heat lamp on (I had to move it to the cool side) the temp stays around 73F & the humidity around 75%. So, I take the heat lamp (75W) & put it on but keep the lamp high above the screen. This keeps the cool side temp at 79-80F & the humidity at 70%. I can't get the humidity lower than 66% on the cool side no matter what I do. The range of temps & humidity in such a short enclosure amazes me! There is no real purpose to this post, i just wanted to express how wierd my tank is!

PS: No, this isn't post whoring!

That does sound pretty odd. What are you using to measure your humidity? Digital or those little analogue dials the petshops sell? Those dials are notoriously inaccurate.

That seems possible Marla. And Judy, I use two of those acu-rite digital thermo/hygro combos that we all love so much. I have one unit on the cool side & one on the warm side!
