first timer, have a few questions.

This is my first time breeding as I have never had a male before. My female is about 6yrrs and is about5,000 grams. I have been cooling with the tank at 85 in the day and 75-77 at night, the male and female keep locking tales but it doesn't look like anything is...errm..going on. is this normal? neither have ever tried to breed before maybe they are just practicing? the male is 3yrs and weights about 3,000g. also what does it mean to candle an egg? thanks!

Are you sure those weights are correct? They sound like awfully BIG ball pythons. Also, candling eggs is just putting a light up to them to see what is inside. As for the temp drops, I don't drop at night (though some breeders do). I've been told by people more experienced than I that the fluctuations in temperatures between night and day is the cause of a lot of respiratory infections.

I am positive, my female is almost 6ft. she is huge but I've had her for 5 and a bit years and fed her twice a week since I got her
and they is exactly what they look like with their tails together

Feeding twice a week might be too often. I only feed mine once a week and they seem to grow at a good consistent rate. Sounds like you definitely had a lock, I work a lot, so I often miss the locks, therefore I rely on the 3 days in 4 days out (people say 3 days out, but I don't have a ton of females, so I went with 4 days out, keeping everything on a weekly schedule to make my life simple). Like Don said, candling an egg means holding a flashlight against the egg so that you can see if there are veins in the egg. Youtube has some great videos of this that will make it obvious.

I'd like to see a picture of that 5,000 gram female. That is huge.
